You know that moment when you wake up with what seems like a brilliant idea at breakfast, but by lunchtime, you’re questioning, “What was I thinking?” Today was one of those days for me. I hold you in high regard, so if you have a better idea, or if you just want to give me a figurative slap on the head and tell me, “Williams, you’re nuts,” I’m okay with that too.

I’m not going to worry excessively about this issue; I trust the board’s judgment and am prepared to accept their decision and proceed. As you know, I pride myself on being amiable and cooperative, so I’m confident this situation will resolve itself. Enjoy your weekend, and I’ll see you on campus. (By the way, regarding my “see you around campus” phrase, it’s a nod to Kevin Bacon’s line to Tom Cruise in the final scene of ‘A Few Good Men’—a movie quote that resonated with me and became a personal catchphrase.)
